英文兒歌

女兒在學校裡學了不少英文歌，回到家裡兩姊妹常常唱的不亦樂乎！只是有時我還真聽不出來她們到底在唱什麼．之前Melody唱了一首和蜘蛛有關的歌，後來從Sesame street的節目中才知道原來她們唱的是itsy-bitsy spider：

The itsy-bitsy spider went up the water spout.

Down came the rain, and washed the spider out.

Out came the sun, and dried up all the rain

And the itsy-bitsy spider went up the spout again.

最近兩人又開心的唱著（小星星的曲）：

這是我所能意會的歌詞，聽起來倒也很合理，只是不曉得到底是more what？今天終於上網把這些歌詞給找到，Baa, Baa, Black Sheep原來歌詞是

歌詞中的master, dame 以及較複雜的子句，Melody還不會，所以她改唱成daddy、 mom和sister，對於我這個已經純然靠理解來記憶的大人而言，不得不佩服她！還有一首帶動唱的歌，叫 hokey-pokey dance，旋律很耳熟，但不記得在那兒聽過，小朋友每次一唱都得要唱好幾回才肯停：

突然意會到，自己愈來愈依賴符號文字，已經很難再單獨靠聲音來記憶新的資訊，雖然透過文字，就自學來說非常方便，但是在互動上就吃虧許多，因為大惱中每一個符號只對應一個聲音，一旦找不到一個發音所對應的意義，就很難理解意思，因此看電影得 盯著字幕，到餐廰得看菜單，不然光聽侍者用英文流利地介紹今天的特餐，還真不曉得到底內容是什麼（每次點了當日的特餐，就得看運氣好壞，運氣好猜對內容，就吃的愉快，運氣不好猜錯內容，可就吃的辛苦些）。

不過一位老美的例子倒也說明文字的重要：大鬍子 David會講中文，他的老婆是湖南人，他們的小朋友四歲了，他說他的中文只有四五歲的程度，因為自從他的女兒四歲之後，他很難再以中文和她對話。我問他，他所知道的 中文字有多少個？他回答不多，就像幼稚園學生一樣，自然未到可以自學的門檻，中文程度也就停滯不前了。

顯然每個人學習或是獲得資訊的方式各有不同，在成長的過程因為個性、環境逐漸定型。對於以語言互動做為主要資訊來源方式的人，必須以閱讀彌補不足之處；同理，對於以文字符號做為主要學習方式的人，也需要適當的互動來平衡資訊的偏倚。
